PRAYER IS THE HARDEST TASK
Martin Luther believed that prayer was the most difficult task in the life of the Christian. Our experience corroborates this—prayer is hard! As a result, our relationship with God suffers. But our generation is not the first to struggle with prayer. This has been a perennial problem in the human experience. But God eagerly desires to hear from us.
OVERCOMING HINDRANCES TO PRAYER
Prayer is hard, and as a result we often neglect it. This sermon helps by exploring five hindrances to prayer and what can be done about them.
WHAT TO PRAY FOR
Often our prayers become focused on short-term needs like health and travel. We focus on what is happening right now and ask for God’s immediate help. But if we look at the prayers of the early church, we see that the bread and butter of their prayers was not this crisis management but ongoing prayer for their fellow believers, for unbelievers, and for those in leadership positions.
